The urban showcase center is used to exhibit the urban planning of Shenzhen. Historical, actual and future planning can be projected and explained.
The ground floor is covered with a bamboo parquet, bamboo as fast growing local material should expressed the sustainability on the one hand and on the other it is a warm and friendly material that should invite the visitors to come in and experience the whole center. In the middle a urban scale model of Shenzhen is presented being thick glass that is strong enough to walk on. The visitor gets an impression of Shenzhen from the bird view perspective and in a large scale.
The glass flooring does contain touch sensitive spots, soon a visitor steps on them, a ring for doted lines is illuminated to indicate that this is a special spot and the visitor is informed that he will get more explanations. A line then flashes towards one of the bamboo information boards, the visitor understands that he should follow and watch the information that is displayed on the info board. This is a interactive multimedia presentation on the flat screen panel, but also some fixed information that are part of each bamboo information board.
A wall system of two different kind of walls is installed close surrounding the core area that contains the urban planning model. A Green Wall that is mainly green grass and similar plants stands for the green topic of the overall exhibition and it also improves the indoor climate and comfort for the people. As a not common material this green wall attracts people to see something special and new and will touch the sense for nature.
Next to the green wall we design light wall constructions that are cladded with a bamboo veneer. In contrast to the bamboo flooring this veneer is bleached and has a bright nearly white color. A glossy protection coating is attached to protect against damages. Those walls are equipped with a flat screen system of 46 Inch touch screen monitors that are used to interact with the visitors and explain the important topic of this ground floor exhibition.
