WUHAN VANKE K2

The project entails a large luxury residential and mixed-use development in the heart of Wuhan. Currently the site is occupied by low-rise residential buildings in poor conditions and without any architectural quality bound to be demolished. The site is accessible from two close points, that allow to allocate the street in one side of the site and leave the rest for the park.

The site is primarily south facing with a large park to the South. The dominant wind can be used in a sustainable strategy to lower electricity bills and increase the ecological sustainable performance of the buildings. The quality of this site is the view to the park to the south. In any proposal we must get as many views from the apartments towards the green .

The K2 project is a high density residential complex that aims at reducing the impact of the buildings onto the ground to allow for a maximum amount of outdoor parks and outdoor space.

The design scope entails living in a luxury high-rise inside the park. How can the park become an exclusive part of the project? What does luxurious living mean for Wuhan? How do we create a building in Wuhan which is iconic but makes commercial sense?

The apartments interlink creating double height spaces and making sure every apartment has a view to the south which will increase the sales value. We then repeat this module over the entire building meaning it is cost effective yet diverse. Pushing the apartments in and out creates beautiful balconies to overlook Wuhan.
